Mobil 1 - Racing 2T - Autozone - ONE PENNY

Post by crf_kdx »

Hey folks!

I went to buy some Mobil 1 Racing 2T today at my local Autozone and it rang up $0.01/quart. After I asked the fellew to confirm that was correct (btw, posted price on the shelf was $9 but he said it was being discontinued!), I went back and cleaned out their shelf of the stuff. So, 5 quarts for 5 cents. Heck of a score!!

Just thought I'd share the information . . .

I'm mindful the stuff has already gone past the "expiration date" on the bottle and that's why I'll just pour it on the driveway to keep the dust down!! :-) Five cent dust control isn't a bad deal!! :-)

Ya know . . . some eco-terrorist will probably burn our homes down for even joking about pouring oil on our drives!! I suppose I lean green but all things in moderation except moderation!

Hey . . . bring it with you this weekend and sell it to your riding buddies - I bet you could get away with even a 5000% markup pretty easily!

Can you ask someone at your store if that's a local or national thing on being discontinued.

The guy at my local Autozone looked at me real funny when I mentioned this to him.

From http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/Mot ... aspx#FAQs1
What happened to Mobil 1 Racing 2T?

Mobil 1 Racing 2T was discontinued in the fall of 2007, and there is no replacement for it in the Mobil 1 motorcycle oil product lineup.

So it is discontinued nationally, sounds like the pricing is local though...

I plan to return to my local AZ on Wednesday and try score a few more quarts of the stuff . . I'll let you know if I just got lucky, if it's just a local thing or if it's good everywhere.

The shelves were bare at the local Autozone today w/r/t the Mobil 1 Racing 2T. Since Mobil is not making the stuff anymore I suppose it still pays to buy it up when you see it if the stuff happens to be your particular flavor of oil.

I just saw over on ThumperTalk that a fellow in TX also bought Mobil 1 Racing 2T for a penny. If you haven't checked out your local Autozone, it might be worth a phone call or a trip. It sounds like some have the one cent deal and others do not.
