A Short BOIL OVER.....

Post by Green Hornet »

When riding this morning, the Old Girl had a Short Boil Over after coming up a Snotty Hill. I was Clutching her in 2nd, so I would get minimal Wheel Spin, but had to drop to 1st to anyway. Every time I got going up the hill a Branch would Grab my Right Boot & YANK IT OFF!! Then the Left Boot would get YANKED OFF!! Then the RIGHT AGAIN!!!! I probably lost about 1/4 or so of coolant & I noticed the 220 did not seem as peppy. I believe the Clutch was Slipping after the Boil Over. Could the Clutch Slipping be caused by a Slightly Hotter Engine????? It could be time for a Clutch Rebuild also.........
Any Thoughts??

If your clutch is slipping, replace it. I've never had a clutch slip after boiling over. You ought to try adding some water wetter or try using the Evans coolant. It boils at 370 degrees, your engine would have seized by that point.

I used them in my WR....Grab fine and smooth. Mine must've been a bad batch though 'cause the tangs were too wide for the basket, and I had to hand fit them with a file. I could never ding tusk as it as a hinson basket, but should be OEM spec.
