Here is a picture of my steering stop, it is slotted to fit over the old tab and has a screw down the center.

What diameter USDs? Or..what year?
How much was 'added' to the original tang?
I should do something like that. My '99 forks do touch the tank. Not enough (I think) to hurt, but I'd rather they didn't touch at all.
There's a LOT of force against that piece. Is there force against the allen? ...or against the existing frame stop?
