OK its summer in Florida and not the best time to ride in the woods,
so like many northern folks in January I am getting a little stir crazy seeing my KDX sit.

I have a couple of nicely paved subdivisions around me that have no homes built in them.
Thanks to a tanked real estate market, may not for quite some time.
I regularly run my V-strom in them just to keep my tires from flat spotting too bad and to remember what cornering is like.
They are like tight private little race tracks. This one is less than 2 miles from my house.


Well this bike below got me thinking.
Could I make a KDX supermoto on the cheap to play in these subdivisions during the hot months?

What year wheels/hubs are the same as my 98?
Does anyone make a larger disc?
How about a fork brace for the stock forks?

Go on the cheap and just get some street tires.... try it out!

Yea, I have thought of that, but I do still ride a bit offroad and SUCK at changing tires (not to mention the HEAT in the garage).

I may start with just new rims with street rubber though.
KDX rims seem to sell pretty cheap.
Does anyone make a sticky 21" street tire? Seems like only choppers have 21's.

Though I must say I have always loved the looks of the fat 17" set ups.

Can always keep your eye out for used wheels, then have 17" rims laced to them. It's the hubs that cost a friggin fortune. And yeah, they make 21/18" s-moto tires. Watch out for drug-running planes

That was pretty much my original thoughts. Buy used wheels for the hubs and lace up some 17" rims.

I'll ask my question again about what year hubs/rims will swap out with the 98.
I am assuming 95-2004, but how about any earlier models?
Any KX's swap?

The roads in the subdivisions are too tight & twisty for the drug planes, but I do know where they used to land

95-current...KDX 200/220 are the same minus the cylinder/carb.

You could fix the 'suck at changing tire' part with a Harbor Freight tire changer and a MoJo lever.

Wibby's let me use his changer a couple of times. Makes changing tires a piece of cake.

The same guy that makes the MoJo lever makes MoJo blocks for that tire changer that make holding a wheel a snap.

Takes a couple minutes. Literally!
