Im interested in having a efm autoclutch for my 200 hybrid.I race enduro and I am a top 10 clubman rider.Are they worth the money? I really like the idea of a bar mounted rear brake as well.Any thoughts.

Ask Skipro3 he has one and from what I read he loves it. I think there is someone else hare also I just cann't think who it is.

I think about everyone that has one loves it. The hand brake on the rear is a big +, too (DOT master cylinders ARE available..they aren't ALL mineral oil).


I asked for an update on Rick's experience with an EFM on a 200.

I have NOT looked to get an idea of the number of 200 users there are. It DOES seem to me it works better on a bit large bike.

..an input from rick (a 200 rider) that says he's happy with it.

I don't recall other 200 users with it. Not saying there aren't any..and I haven't spent a lot of time looking, neither.

DO take note of the assy issues. There is 'A' way to do it right, lots of ways to do it wrong.

Note the dowel pin issues, spring configuration etc.

Kind of, no absolutely, a btw now, but I don't get grinding those dowels down. Uh...they're STAKED, aren't they? Grinding them down seems like grinding down a RIVET to me. Grind the stake off and nothing is holding anything together any more.

i just installed a EFM autoclutch and the rear handbrake on my 06' KDX and LOVE it, its alot like riding my mt-bike..........to all you people that say you HATE the autoclutch you have no idea what you are MISSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
imo- by adding the autoclutch along with the rear handbrake it just becomes a GREAT,GREAT advantage in alot of situations !!!!!!

I have no idea what I'm missing. So...what else is new?

Heck...that money would be better spent getting the mod on a 'new' KX..not the kDx!

Thanks for the replies.Ive emailed Gary @ efm and he has given me the low down on what I would need to send him.Im hoping to find a complete unit to send him so I dont have any down time.Im riding mainly woods enduros with steep climbs,off cambers,very gnarly.I also do a few cross country races.The best enduros I race are (for those that know the uk )at Exmoor,North somerset.You only get the bikes reving on the fire breaks which dont last for long and then your back in the thick of it again.For these events we have to use trials tyres so I really think the efm would help heaps to pick up more grip.

Forget the old back deck. Just put an old school bus seat near your front door and let the good time roll

Theres no point in an autoclutch if you know how to use a manual clutch. I hate the idea of anything automatic. You can't adjust the autoclutch engagement point wherever you want like you can with a manual clutch. You can't bump start the bike either. I am a firm believer that autoclutches are for PW50's and bikes for people of a similar skill level. If you ride as good as you say you do, keep the manual clutch unless you are rockcrawling all day long

The only positive side of an auto clutch is that I witnessed pictures of a CR500 that seized on the freeway (wiseco piston, not enough clearance). he autoclutch disengaged and let the engine stop immediately, preventing a $hitload of cylinder damage. The cylinder looked good as new.

PW50's....and a lot of the pros that race cross country. Word to your mother's uncle.

They seem to have their advantages, especially for the older folks and the disabled
