Hi,
I am in the process of changing my OE piston and rings for a wiseco ,when I measure my new rings in my cylinder with a filler gauge I get 0.435mm but in my clymer shop manual for a kdx220r 1999 the spec I have is between 0.15mm to 0.35mm and the service limit is at 0.635mm
should I be worry about this or is it O.K . Anyone with similar measurement with wiseco rings...
Thanks,
Ring gap?

I've not looked at the 220 supplement. Come to think of it...I don't have one.
For us (me) US peoples..the 200 spec is then .006-.014", and the 220 is .012-.020"?
I would have never guessed there would be that kind of difference with 3mm difference in bore size.
A restatement for verification, please? ..for both sizes? In case I missed something.
Anyone with an explanation for why such a disparity?
Thanks!

OK Crvr.....Fresh look at both the manual for the KDX200 as well as the KDX220 Supplement.
I read:
KDX200 - Standard: .15mm - .35mm........service limit is: .65mm
*applies to both top and second ring*
KDX220 - Standard: .30mm - .50mm........service limit is: .8mm
*applies to both top and second ring*
Does seem odd....with that much difference for such a small change in bore size.

I can't imagine a ring gap limit of .032", either (.8mm).
Must be 'cuz the 220 makes SO much power, losing a good lot of it past a hole you could stick your thumbnail in don't matter.
What a machine! ...and amazed.....

For the 220, though, it's not just the rings that should be replaced but the entire piston with a Wiseco setup. And the ring gap for those are considerably smaller, likely because Wiseco recognized that since the 220 makes SO much power a little bit goes a long ways, thumbnail size and all!
