clutch cover and bearing
any ideas on how to get that bearing out of the cover plate? I can't believe that they don't include one with the new cover . . . and no sight glass. Profit margin.

I'm guessing you needed a new clutch cover because the old one has a hole in it?
I can't see getting that bearing out of there without trashing it. I can see putting a new one in the new cover, same with the sight glass. Did the new cover come with a seal for the clutch actuating rod?
I don't know.....fix the old cover.....JB Weld is some amazing stuff

In the funny little imaginary world that I live in, logic dictates that if there's a bearing that's pressed into something, and you can't get it out, that the new something should include a bearing. No such luck.
No hole in the cover, just a crack. It looks like someone jammed a wrench between the kickstart and the cover then kicked it over. I didn't even think of JB weld, because I seldom use it for anything.
Already have the cover, just no the bearing. The sight glass pops right out toward the outside. I haven't tried the seal.

Try freezing it, and checking it after a bit. If it doesn't come right out with little effort after a short period in the freezer, then let it deep-freeze. Then hit the bearing lightly with a torch while either prying on it, or tapping on the outside of the cover. If it doesn't come out then might want to get a new bearing for your new cover. The idea here being that the aluminum cover, and steel bearing will expand/contract differently 'just enough' to give you a window where the bearing will easily come out. Works on all kinds of stuff where you have a steel bearing in an aluminum enclosure (swing arms, etc).
