Clutch problem?

Post by DirtDaddy »

Hey Guys,
I have a question about the clutch on my son's 2006 200. With the bike in gear and not running, when I pull in the clutch it doesn't want to roll freely. It acts almost like the clutch isn't pulled in all the way. You have to push it pretty hard with good traction for it to break the wheel free and roll. You can, however, start it in gear OK and once running the clutch works fine, bike doesn't want to creep, etc. On all of the other bikes I have owned and ridden when the clutch is pulled in the bike will roll freely. The free play at the lever is adjusted per spec. Any ideas?

It's normal, all kdx do that. It's worse when cold.

It is normal on a KDX. Some things can make it worse...like a notched clutch basket.

Don't know why this is, doesn't seem to be any different in result, but it is. Bikes with clutch activation from the INside (KX, YZ) generally don't do it. The KDX clutch activation is from the OUTside.
