D739

Post by scheckaet »

I picked up a D739 for 40 bux but didn't realize it was 100/100 18.
Will they mount? Any draw backs compared to 120/90 18 I currently have?
Anybody have experience with these?
Thx for any comments.

I am running that same tire same size right now on mt 2001 200. At first I was not sure, but now I like it. It really performs on the rocks and roots. I run 10-12 psi depending on where I am riding and it hooks up great when the ground is hard. Most of the terrain I ride is extremly rocky, technical single track. It works good on the wet rocks, roots and logs also. However, when it gets deep and slimy it SUCKS. The tire does not seem to clean out very well and doesn't hook up in the slop. I rode the Crosstimbers Enduro in your neck 'O the woods last season with this tire. It didn't perform all that well in the red dirt. The hard pack was OK but the softer sandy stuff was hard to hook up to. The tire is wearing really well, really holding up nice to the rocks. Does not seem to want to chunk out. I just put on the 739 front to try. One ride away from my 756's that I love and so far I like it OK. Hope this rambling helps.

Hi,

Specifications for the 2005 KDX200 shows that the stock rear is a 100/100 18. Is your rim stock?

I am currently using a 100/100 18. Anybody using a wider rear on the stock rim?

I haven't checked the rear rim width, so not sure what the max width for a rear would be.

I imagine if you were in soft terrain and mud frequently, a bigger footprint would be desirable.

110/100 works fine

You didn't happen to buy that at Cycle Gear on sale did you? I might get one also.

I have a D739 100/100 on my 2005. I'm almost certain it is the stock tire. It is worn down pretty good but doesn't have any chunks missing. Granted this is my first bike in 20 years so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but it seems to grip pretty good. I just bought a 110/90 D952 that I will be able to compare it to.

I put a D756 on my front last week and it made a huge improvement. It replaced the tire that came on my KX wheel off E***. The knobs were about 1/4" tall. I can't believe I was riding around on a tire like that.

thanks for the comment, zactly the kind of info I was looking for.
Sounds like this tire wouldn't be too great where we ride

but for 40 bux...will give it a try when my S12 is out.

JC, I got it at cycle gear couple weeks ago. they may all be gone now...

It was not horrible at Crosstimbers but you could very easily do better.
