Premix oil

Post by danfree »

I have been using spectro gold. I not really interested in what is the best oil, but what is the most popular oil. I ran out and ended up buying some oil at the only gas station between here and the trail. It was some oil for use in outboard motors. I only used it once! But I am determined not to run out again. So I want to buy a case of oil. I am really interested in folks who decided to change their favorite brand.

Hasn't this been done a few times before?

Watch closely and you might see Indawoods mess with the Amsoil votes a little :)

OK Inda. I don't think you need to keep this survey open for a month. If I click on the Amsoil link at the top and buy from the online catalog, will it help support this site (kdxrider)? Or should I find a local dealer here in FL?

He gets fractions of the dough.... pennies, even. I can get Dominator for a good amount cheaper at my local place, so I just buy from there. Shop around and even hit the small joints for oil.

I used to run Golden Spectro and Maxima Super M but now I switched over to Amsoil Interceptor. It seems to run good on the Interceptor with no spooge (Some spooge before but hardly any at all).

The big difference there is what gets left behind in your motor. I've seen terrible carbon from both of the ones you mention. Especially on the generally low-revved KDX motors.

I think every member here needs to drain their tanks and carbs, and go out and mix up some gas with a different oil than their "usual", just to gain a little perspective.

I tried this and ended up figuring out that Bel-Ray is not the oil for me. It sucks IMO.

That redline is good stuff. Mixes well with castor too if'n you need a special blend. It's like 'Dominator'

Mr Black donut like Redline

Says it messes with the brass in your carby or some such

I ferget edzachary what he has to say about it

I use :

Interceptor (Whenever I can't find Mobil1)
I first tried this oil at 50:1 and I really liked how much peppier my bike runs and feels. So now I'm running everything at 50:1. Plus I run a quart of Toluene with every 5 gallons of premix

Mobil1 MX2T (when I can still find it)

Redline (when I can't find either the two above)

Castor 927 (when I want to make my riding buddy sick)

Interceptor is the preferred Amsoil for medium duty use....Cleaner burning. The Dominator is for extended high speed running and/or bikes without powervalves.

Klotz R50 for me. Used it in my YZ250 and now in the KDX. Mix at 32:1.
