The bushing in my shock looked brandy new to me. Didn't even look rubbed on.

Or...that's the way they look when they're shot?

I likely will replace the seal head 'next time'. That had been done recently, didn't figure it would be due already again.

Racetech's are $66. Good grief...bladders are spendy, too.

The bushing I was looking at when I cleaned it wasn't part of the seal head.

That's more money, I'm sure........ When a bottom-out bumper can run $80..I wonder how much of the pricing is 'WoW, Hi-Tech!!, Super-Go-Fast-Moto mode' stuff.

How good could a bumper be that cost $5? $80 has GOT to be good!!!

REAL good! I WANT one!!

**edit**
Shock worked very nicely on the next ride. Again (it's been so everytime I've had it done) I was pleased to feel what a newly serviced shock does...considerably more compliant..improved rebound was the most notable change.

Same clickers, same sag setting.

Do yourself a favor...service your shock.

This is an excellent post. I just disassembled my shock because it was leaking. Now on to the repair. What parts should I be replacing before I reassemble? Just the shock seal? Looks like RM has an All Balls one for $30. Go OEM?

What's the part number? I haven't looked, but would have guessed RM didn't sell internal shock parts. Yeah...I could go look it up...but I don't wanna.

Now's a good time to replace the bumper if it shows signs of wear.

What are you going to use for fluid?

Part number, that's the problem. The fiche shows the whole rod assembly and doesn't show them as individual parts. The entire assembly isn't even referenced ???

RM has this http://www.rockymountainatv.com/product ... icleSelect

For oil, I was going to use what the service manual suggested, KYB K2-C (SAE5W or Bel-ray SE2 #40). I know you had tried some other stuff so I'm open for suggestions.

Thanks for the help!

When the rod is out which end can you loosen? The top or the bottom? Looks like the threads on the top are slightly peened. I don't want to put too much force on these nuts.

thanks!

I serviced my shock a couple years back. Used Mobile 1 Synthetic ATF (supposed to be about 7.5 wt.) I have a pump similar to what your link shows that I used instead of nitrogen. Still works good, the shock that is.

This thread answered a ton of questions for me. Thanks!

I have to wait to go out to the garage but I think I did not separate the two clips, oops! Which is which?
