Amsoil question

Post by blimpman »

KDX noob here...
Seems I've read that Amsoil has been touted as a clean burning oil that keeps the KIPS assy cleaner. Seen this on several sites.

Which one does everyone like? Interceptor or Dominator?

Interceptor is the best but I run Dominator (Intereceptor not in my local shop) and have not had problems so far.

Interceptor's great stuff . . . I did a top end on my kiddo's RM65 and here's what things looked like inside having ran Interceptor for a good while (and yes the top end was due) . . .

I wouldn't call Interceptor the best, they're 2 different oils for 2 slightly different applications. Dominator was designed for race engines, and I'd consider my bike nothing less than that.

Dominator has a COLOR....... So you can differentiate it from something else should you use one gas can for different things.

Interceptor too has a bit of a color, makes the gas turn a golden color. Its very easy for me to distinguish Interceptor mixed @ 50:1 when comparing it to regular gas. And nothing a good sharpie marker with the words KDX on your gas can won't fix.

Use the Interceptor for trail riding and such (perfect for the KDX) and Dominator high performance motors that you rev alot.

The interceptor has a lower burning point than the Dominator, which lets it burn off and more clean at lower rpms such as trail riding.

Yep. Eveything above is true because the Amsoil Rep. told me.Do I look convinced?

I believed every single word she told me. I will run amsoil next season.

No more MOTUL oil for me...Interceptor will be in my gas tank forever.

Amsoil recommends 50:1 , but you can run anything you want. I run 40:1

I've been running Dominator at 50:1 in the KDX and the YZ125 , but only for about half a season. Haven't blown anything up yet.

I am really only using Dominator because that's all I can find locally. Is there any advantage to the Interceptor?

I'd say that would be an advantage.

Personally, I find that running 32:1 gives me better performance. More oil will do that. Just ask Fuzzy. He told me, I checked it out and it's true.

I'm ordering some tonight Vince!! :supz:

I like it. Haven't switched back to SuperM to check it back and forth, but the switch from SuperM to Interceptor was positive. No earth shattering 'WHOA!!', but 'better'. I run 40: Tried 32: with SuperM and didn't like it. BIG change for the better in the Banshee going from 40: to 32:.

I never had a KIPS problem with years of SuperM, though.
