clearence for connecting rod from side to side in crank?

Post by Little Jeff »

Hi there, I am new to this particular site. I just recently picked up a '2000 KDX200. I am in the process of tearing it all apart to do a bunch of mainteneance stuff. Anyways. I pulled the cylinder and head off and was wondering if anybody knows the clearance #s for the left and right movement of the connecting rod to the crank. I am able to get a .012" feeler gauge on side and a .011" feeler gauge on the side and there is no up and down play, just not sure about to left and right. I know there is supposed to be some play, but how much? Thanks for your time.

Side clearance isn't the issue it is in 4-strokes. Unless there is something else wrong, it is what it is. If there IS something else wrong (the crank is coming apart)..you have more to worry about than side clearance.

Don't worry about it.

Radial play? If you can feel it, it's probably too much.
