UFS207-
I don't know but I can find out. The fella lives around Hattiesburgh and is part of the club out of Hattiesburgh Cycles. I'm in Mobile, a good hour from there, so he doesn't come down here to ride very often.

I believe that I have a 220 head because it has the little dimple in it.

Re: '0.198 and like a cursive L'

Yes it does.

So...WTH you going to do with it? Fix it (if it needs fixin') and put it back on?

I picked up a complete 2004 220 motor off ebay. It arrived yesterday so I installed last night and fired it up this morning. Looks good so far. It will be interesting for me to compare to the old engine, since I've never ridden another KDX before.

If the 'new' engine has the OEM Pro-X piston (ART..whatever)..I hope you consider getting it OUT of there sooner than later.

May I ask..how much for the whole thing? ...a bolt in prospect? Nothing missing.

That's one way to get back in the saddle pretty quick.

And you still have the other top-end to experiment with, too!

Hope you let us know how it runs..compared to and all.

Cheers!

Yeah, the new engine has never been opened supposedly. I wanted to install it and ride it a little to make sure all is well, prior to tearing it open. I got it for 510 (110218593457) complete with the carb off of a 2004. It looks so nice and clean compared to my poor 1996 engine.

I am going to see what I can do with my original top end, but most likely I'll probably try to sell it or something. Looking from the intake side I see what looks like a possible crack at the bottom of the dividers. I am going to have someone look at it to see how serious it is.

Re: 'I see what looks like a possible crack at the bottom of the dividers.'

One of the reasons porting sucks...or more correctly, the people doing it suck.

That port webbing/stanchion is a known weak point and no one with any brain will mess with it to any extent.

That's not my idea...I red it sumwheres. If I know it..certainly someone grinding on a cylinder should know it.

Sounds like your all set!!

Since there is a whole bunch of you who live in CA. I have family who lives in Ventura and am planning to go pay them a visit in a year or so. Maybe I could look you guys up to go riding for a day. Of course I'd have to find a place that rents bikes. :supz:

Sorry about this being a little off topic.
