I read that in the manual- Have a new (well, has 45 miles now) '06 as well- and almost spit up my cereal- huh?
The general consensus is- nobody does that. I think it's a pretty absurd expectation.
Posted the same question a while back....

I'm lost...
Do you mean the part about removing the head and tossing out the piston and rings as part of the break in?
Sounded like an absurd expectation to me too until I had a stock piston grenade and cause 1200 bucks damage.
If that is what you are refering to then you might actually consider doing it.
If not...nevermind...

Break-in
I think I might have hit the wrong thread-
I was just referring to the whole break-in procedure in the manual where they tell you to pull the head after 1 hour..... maybe I'm just old and lazy, I don't know.... that just seems like a huge PITA!
After the season, fine... after an hour? UGH.
Plus, every one I spoke to- including the dealer said "screw that"

If you have a 220, you should'a replaced it all way before an hour.
