Inspecting top end on new bike necessary?

Post by DirtDaddy »

I read in the owners manual that it is recommended to tear down the top end to inspect it for scoring after the break-in process. How important is it to do this and how often is scoring found on a new bike? FYI, new '06 200. Plan on breaking in with Kawi pre-mix @ 32:1 then switch to Amsoil @ 40:1. Thanks!

And, what would you do if you found a little scoring anyway??
RUBBISH....I say!!

Your planned break-in sounds right to me.

Course....if anything goes wrong....I know nothing!!

Haw!!

I agree. I will be doing the same break-in process and no re-inspect after my topend job.

That is the reply I was hoping for! Thank you. I'd still like to hear from anyone that has torn down a top end right after break-in and found some abnormal scoring, and what they believe might have been the cause.
