Like the title says... Does anyone know of a good cross-reference source for these bikes? I keep looking on ebay for brake pads and I can find some that say 93-94 only and some that say 89-94. Are the front brakes the same for all "E" model stateside KDX200's? What about other parts like levers and plastics and such? I would appreciate anyone that can point me in the right direction. I need to buy some pads and I found a set on ebay for a good price but I want to make sure they fit. Thanks in advance.

re:brake pads

(some? all? ) of USA models 1993-1994 kdx200 came with stock USD forks and I think the front caliper is not the same as 89-92 series. So the brake pads are not the same.

You have a 92 kdx200 with conventionnal forks. Do not buy pads for the 93-94 models.

Parts for E series are easy to find everywhere (in my case) ;

Kawi dealer , ebay , http://www.rockymountainatv.com , locals shops.

Welcome to you  E  owrner.

Thank you for the response. I'm guessing pads that are labeled to fit the 89-94 bikes are just incorrect then. Thanks for clearing that up.

In fact this is correct. They will fit 89-94 kdx200 with conventional forks. Just be careful when it's time to order parts in the front end area. Forks seals is a great exemple. Be sure to order seals for YOUR bike.

Look for seat covers on ebay maybe you need one  ?

I'm not an 'E' guy...but just 'cuz the calipers are different doesn't necessarily mean the pads have to be different..right? The difference may be a matter of mounting, not internal diffs.

Maybe......

Seems some 'E's have a single piston caliper..some don't. Obviously THAT's a difference that isn't going to fit.

Not always true...but you can check part numbers on an on-line parts place (RonAyers for one...BuyKawasaki for another). If the same PN is used on different models, you can be confident they will match. There may well be times when the numbers are different..but they still match, but that wouldn't happen often (if at all).

If the eBay pad auction lists a PN..run that through a google search..see what you come up with.

Or...look that number up on the mfg.'s site if they have one.

I know for a fact that the top picture is a 1992 so I'm guessing the bottom one is a 93-94. I'll check out buykawasaki and crossreference some numbers.

I took it out today for a stroll through the woods just to get it warmed up. I noticed some things that aren't kosher so I think I'm going to go ahead and tear it down and do it right so that I can enjoy it for longer once the warm weather gets here. I just have to figure out the cheapest way to do it.

Cheapest?

You mean 'Best Value'?

If your guess is correct, note the caliper differences. One is indeed a mono-block, the other a superheterodyne, bi-polar, jointly activated, 4-pad variety.

So much for 'the same' brake pads.

Rotor's the same!!

Said to make the point...probably not.

Note the first set of digits used in the graphic is NOT the complete part number. The last four digits are probably not the same between the two setups.

The illustrations do not necessarily have anything to do with what they actually look like. Just because a similar part appears to look 'the same' in the illustrations between models, take that with a grain of salt.
