Lean/Rich causing excess smoke?

32:1 is good, but probably saved for more experienced carb tuners. 40:1 is more than ample for trail riding w/ a full synthetic and will give you some plug-fouling tolerance.

Sorry Inda and GS, my dumba@$ mistake. I have been mixing 1 pint to 4 gallons = 32:1, not 16:1. I knew it was 1 pint to 4 gallons, but slipped on the actual numeric ratio. I should be okay there. I might try 40:1 and see how that pans out.

I will go with Amsoil or a full synthetic too. Thanks!

If I do modify the jetting to reduce the fuel in the fuel/oxygen mixture, thus hopefully reducing the amount of fuel/oil mix that is not getting burned, is this pretty easy to do?

Yes, all you have to do generally is pull the bowl off the carb to change both pilot and main jets.
