Aftermarket kick start lever?

Post by cleoent »

Today i was out riding, came back and noticed i was sans a kick start lever. No big deal i thought, made a call, 110 bucks... WTF? Other than the FRP lever, is there anything out there that is cheap?

The frp lever looks great, is it a complete replacement or just the lever (not the part that actually attached to the mechanism on the bike..

I beleive you only get the lever. Need to use your old splined knuckle.

when you get one on there, dont forget the thread locker.
If you run into Heidi, have her look me up in her little black book and give me a call.

Ron Ayers has the whole assembly, including the knuckle for the E series at $65.93 and the H at $72.89

The FRP kicker is night and day better than the stock one. it made kicking easier, and just felt more solid. my stock kicker actually twisted the metal. I wish Fredette made one for my KTM

Not to digress..but..to digress, isn't the punkin kicker forged? I gather you don't like it?

If the KDX kicker was forged, I probably wouldn't have ever replaced it..'cuz it wouldn't have twisted.

Mine 'twisted' cause it wore at the contact points when swung out for bootful of get-up-and-go! Just welded it up...built larger 'contact pads and well, we'll see how that works out.

The only punkin kicker I have experience with works well and you can feel the rigidity in the flippin thing.

Mine twisted..literally. The stop was fine (it did get welded on..a couple of times.. to fix a too-far problem).

Besides being twisted to helpfully let your boot slip off at the bottom of a kick, the lever itself had no grip to it anyway. That didn't help.

That is exactly what mine did.

yeah, my punkin is forged, but isn't the FRP machined billet? I like the size of the FRP as well.

You're right. The FRP is CNC'd

Well...it looks like it is, anyway.

What happens with all the STUFF left over from a machining process like that.

Yeah...I did ask that before. I KNOW what they do with it..I mean..what a lot OF it!

I guess if you have feet like a little gurl the FRP kicker will work for ya.

I've tried it and prefer the stocker

the shorter FRP and KX kicker seem to work better for taller folks IMO.
how vertically challenged are you Wibbins?

I have some very shaved down seat foam I would like to sell cheap.
get those feet a lil closer to the ground.

My size 12 1/2 foot works well with the shorty and I dont have to put my knee up to my chin to start my kick.

here is a stocker on ebay.

Wibben's is a shrimp!

..if you're 7'!

...and his bike sits almost a couple inches lower than mine. Go figure.
