Tyres & Carb Jets

Post by revingtosh »

Hi,

I own a 1987 KDX200 C2.

Im looking at making the bike road legal again as part of the restoration, can anyone recommend a decent knobbly tyre (for both front and rear) that will be road legal?

Also,

The motor has been completely overhauled, and also an FMF Fatty / DEP Rear silencer and Boysen reeds fitted.

Can anyone advise what jets i should be running as a decent benchmark to start with?

Thanks in advance all the way from the UK,

Mike

you might try going to http://www.fmfracing.com and seeing what their jetting suggestions are for that paticular model. That may give you somewhat of a base line to start with. Be sure and consider the other factors that will determin which way you go from there. Mods, airbox lid/snorkel, air density/temp,elevation, riding style etc. If in doubt, go rich first, Plugs are much cheaper than a top end& cylinder resurfacing. Not sure about the tires. Most knobby tires I am farmiliar with are not street legal. Look into some dual sport tires or maybe there are some trials tires that are ok to use on the street.
If you run into Heidi, have her look me up in her little black book and give me a call.
Im feelin a little wild today.
