Rad Cap pressures

Post by GhostRider »

Went to an auto parts store the other day to get a new rad cap of 1.6 pressure the guy said that my 1.1 pressure was 11psi so I got a 13 thinking it was 1.3 and thinking it was half way between the 1.1 and 1.6.

what is 1.6 in the other form of measurement, cause I think i got the wrong cap.

Thanks

The guy that stated 1.1 was 11psi was full of something other than know-how . . .

Idaho Charley sums it up quite well in this thread.

Question:
so if I wanted a 1.6 pressure cap what would that number be in the other units.
From the posted link:
at sea level..... a 1.6 cap would retain a pressure of (1.6)(14.7) = 23.5 psig prior to releasing.
So...what is the question? Evidently something other that what was asked...'cuz that question was answered already.

Of course..it's a matter of 'bar' or atmospheric pressure at your altitude given your environmental conditions.

Which is why:

The REAL question is...what was the guy's elevation to get 11psi out of a 1.1 cap........ :hmm:

Was he high?
