Post by Ondatrail »

my dad buys yamalube 2-s for our snowmobiles. i now use this on my yamaha rt180 and i wanted to know if this would be ok to use in a kdx so i wouldn't have to pay for oil myself.

Your better off with Amsoil... it doesn't junk up the powervalves.

It will work though.... you will be doing more topend cleaning....

'Cept I use dominator. Sorry Mr.Vince, but my local shop has dominator at considerably cheaper prices than your stuff, so I will be buying from there.

No hard feelings, right :partyman:

It's not my stuff.... it's Amsoil's! They are the ones who set the pricing... outta my hands.... so, I don't blame ya one bit! This site has never been about making money... if it brings in a few bucks... great!

Seems to be ok in my 250. Thats what i run in mine, and my seadoo's. But, going with what Inda said, not sure of long term effects. It is a really good oil though. Been using it for years.

Yamalube 2S is for auto-injector systems like those on small bikes. I use it in my son's KTM 50 Mini Adventure.

I don't know the difference between them, but considering that there ARE different flavors of Yamalube, I wouldn't run the 2S in my bike. I think the other Yamalube 2-stroke oil is what you want.

That would be 2-R....If your going to buy a different oil....I'd say get something different all together like Amsoil, or Motul. Woods bikes love the modern pure synthetics.

Clairvoyant are you?

Or do you really talk to your woods bike?

Do you hear voices in your head that say "ride me big boy..."

On topic...I am not sure about the long range effects but I have started using Yamalube Racing Semi synth 2 stroke oil and have found that my stock KDX runs strong and smokes less and produces less spooge on it than the other stuff I have used (like Pennzoil or Valvoline 2 stroke oil.)

I'll probably go back to Motul when this case of Yamalube is gone but for now I am buying it cheap from my BiL who doesn't ride much anymore (a fact I am trying to remedy).

It all works fine. You can run pure castor if you want, and still get a very clean running machine....However, any non-synthetic portion of the oil will leave gum in your powervalve. Not as important on drum-type powervalves like most MX bikes have. Very important on the intricate KIPS valve as it will actually break if it can't move.

WOW is that for real??

Looks great...no wire brush or solvent needed.

Must be good stuff!

Good synthetic and decently close jetting does wonders in keeping stuff clean and operational. My 380 parts look pretty much the same as what Jeb pictures shows with the exception that the piston top will have some color on the surface but no carbon build-up.

checked the yamalube website turns out 2-s is for oil injection (snowmobiles). i guess ill just have to suck it up n pay for amsoil but itll be worth not having to clean the power valves out all the time
