If only one could "flip" through these emoticons like one would flip through the corner edges of a book with characters drawn with ever-slightly-changing features to see animation, we'd get a richer, fuller sense of the feelings that carvr is trying to protray . . .

but my petcock is still leaking :grin:

Snuck into the garage late at night, pulled the entire head and piston off, just dropped the head off at Ron's for the squish band work and he kindly measured the cylinder for me, 1/2 thou of wear, apparently not too shabby. Stock piston wasn't cracked but the rings were at the service limit for wear. Looks good color wise too. New parts should be here Friday and the head will be done then also, hmmn, wonder what I'll be doing this weekend. Yeah Brad, it really was very simple, god, there i go agreeing w/ you again.

THAT is priceless information. It is impossible to measure a cylinder without the proper tool. Piston-to-cylinder clearance measured with a feeler gauge gives you the slightest of an idea...but that's about it. Out of round? You can't tell much at all about that without using a bore gauge.

Ron just saved you a HUGE amount of 'I don't know..' when it comes to what you NEED to know to correctly put the thing back together.

I'd like to know what the piston/cylinder clearance is going to be for your Wiseco. If you get a number for that, please post it. 3,4,5 thousandths? Ring gap? 10 or less? 11,12?

Do you know what the OLD piston/cylinder clearance measured?


If you were the least bit happy with the way your bike ran before...you are going to be amazed at how it runs now.

Yep, he's a helpful chap that Mr Black. Friendly too, super useful guy to know. My dog's very keen on him too as a trip over there means a good walk in Forest Park :grin:
