I've looked through my repair manual and i can’t find any mention of the part I’m now missing.

I went for a ride this weekend and dropped my bike on its left side. when i picked it up i noticed a little oil had leaked out onto my swing arm near the pivot bolt. On further inspection i found a hole where it looked like a screw? / vent drain? should be. its on the back of the crankcase behind the kick start and above the left kickstart bearing block. You cant see it from the right side of the bike. From the left the veiw is somewhat obstructed by the carb.

What is this hole??????????
What goes in it??????? and what size screw / bolt will fit???

EDIT : sorry... This is on a 1998 KDX 220

I was planning on going to Hatfield and McCoy next week and need to fix this ASAP..

I saw this pic in the repair manual but it didn’t say what it was and doesn't show the vent tube????

Man i feel sooo much better now. I'm not missing a mission critical part.

do you think i could just silicone it until i get the part???

It is a breather, if you cap it off the transmission might build up pressure and push oil past the seals. Can you rig up a hose from the hardware store?

The vent hose plugs in to the front of the airbox near the top in case you were wondering, I never noticed that until recently.

I will pickup a vent line and temporarily secure it for now (with silicone) i really really want to use silicone if you haven't noticed

Silcone won't stick to Teflon..............prolly not even if it's sticky teflon...

Go to any auto shop (if you haven't gotten it from a dealer, yet) and look for a press fit hose fitting. Chances are good you can find something that will work just fine.

...might have to hold it in with silicone........
