Forced Induction KDX, Nuts?

Ok, so humor me here. I know this is a stretch but, my mind got to wondering if this would work or if anyone has ever tried it. My thought was to mount an electric 120mm fan (found at any local computer store) under the air filter in the air box. Logically it would be situated to provide a positive flow into the carb. I was thinking you could link in into the existing coil or rig a battery to provide power to the unit. Would this actually provide a “boost” in response? I understand that this is a sort of precursor to turbo charging but, it sounded like a fun experiment. Any thoughts? Or am I just being silly? Then again… if this worked then I am sure all the major manufactures would have implemented this as a stock option. Ha! That’s probably my answer right there. What do you think?

I think its just crazy enough to work.

Well, I am sorry but I have a feeling it won't work. I saw a small racecar (Cal PolyTech, FSAE team) once that was powered by a 600cc crotch rocket motor, they did lot of research and they ended up needing a 130amp alternator to power some sort of electric supercharger in order to make much of an impact.

So yes it can work, but you need lots of electrical power to make it happen. That is why turbos are so attractive, they only sap a little power and add a whole lot. Now a KDX with a turbo at 6psi is another story.

You could bolt one of those fans and the rear fender and
one under the engine and make a Hover Bike

Fan, is it AC or DC? It matters if you don't want to let the smoke out of it.

Could mount the fan to the top of your helmet and fly around like a helicopter. Just think the fear of triples would be a thing of the past.

Will work in theory, but that's not enough air. I've seen it done with a small leaf blower on a kart (125cc reed motor), and it worked well. Was about a 15% net increase on a dyno.
