What premix does everyone use

Post by 1995KDX200mcs »

I just bought a near mint 1995 KDX200 and it is my first 2 stroke in years. I believe the gas can I got with the bike was mixed 32:1 and boy does it smoke. I've been told to switch to 40:1 and use Golden spectro synthetic blend oil and that should be better. I've also heard of guys running 50:1 premix. Any thoughts appreciated.

Welcome. Different people run different ratios, I have heard of running all 3. I run 32:1 myself but most here seem to run 40:1. There was a poll about it somewhere on the site. The main thing seems to be find a ratio , jet for it and keep it.

I run 40:1 my self, with Mobile 1 Racing 2T. I have almost no smoke. I run the 40:1 because it is simple math for me  16oz of oil to 5 gal. gas. But like radonc73 said find something you like and enjoy riding.

Yeah I just got new premix and put Amsoil full synthetic with 92 octane gas at 40:1 mix and all the smoke is gone and it runs much better. I highly recommend it.

I am running Bel-Ray H1R @ 32:1 for some time now.

I'd like to switch to Amsoil, if my local dealer carried it

Order from the link at the top if it's not available locally. It only helps support the site.

Well if they accept money orders, then I will buy. If not, then It's easy enough to go 10 miles to the dealer.

yeah I was gonna buy golden spectro blend but then I saw this stuff and the auto parts guy raved about it. He rides 2 stroke sno-mo's and has used it for a while. I'm sold for life now

Using Amsoil at 45:1 and have had no problems. Scared to run 50:1 but have heard that you can go leaner than that!!

I run either Motul 710 or Golden Spectro Sythenic blend. Either works just fine, the spectro stuff is just cheaper.

I've been using Maxima synth at 40:1. Last month I bought a bottle of Maxima Premium 2 (red tint). It did not go unnoticed that the "rusty" residue on my cylinder bore was the same color.

My last premix batch was with the Amsoil interceptor . . .

but I kept the ratio unchanged - 32:1

What is the advantage of running a more oil-lean premix anyway? What's the obsession with running 40:1 or even 50:1?

40:1 is easier to mix, or at least was til Mobil switched from pint containers to quart size :?

I run Mobil1 Racing 2T @ 40:1
