In stock form, the 220 is torquier and stronger down low, while milder after 6,000 rpm's when the kips opens, in comparison to the 200. I found out all of this by searching around, because I obviously don't have both bikes. IMO, the 220 is a pointless bike. I mean was everyone so scared of the insane power of a kdx200 that they had to make a milder bike?

Unless you find someone who has owned both or ridden them back to back for a good while, its just gonna be a slinging match of mines betterer den yours.

Really, 200's are WAY better... See what I mean ?!?

When they are both modded there wouldn't be a whole lot in it. :partyman:

The difference is night and day...AND as plain as the nose on...

The 220 comes with an oring chain..the 200 does not.

Th'ar 'ya go!

Well..there's the puny little carb on the 220..the differences in port timing..but what's throttle response, upper revs and 'fun' amongst friends?

That would be me.
I had a 95 kdx200 and a 97 kdx220 concurrently for about 2 years.

Biggest noticeable difference was the 220 grunt for me. I didn't like to ride/race open courses that much with either and I preferred the 220 for tight stuff. Both were equipped with boyeson reeds, the 220 had an FMF rev the 200 had the FMF torque pipe. I found that I rode the 220 much more often so I sold the 200 first. You absolutely cannot lose with either one, and if I rode in more open type terrain more the preference may have been otherwise.

Downside on the 220's, they tend to overheat in slow situations much more than the 200's do. I'm thinking of doing Ron's head mod this summer to see if it will help my current 220 in that regard.

I wasn't aware that Ron's mod helped with cooling, too!

I've ridden a 200 and indeed it is different bike. I picked the 220 and can only say that I'm thrilled with it's performance with a rev pipe and some power reeds (and this coming week I'll have more to say about it's performance). The low-to-mid power is fantastic, hard to bog the bike. The high end was initially a let-down but that rev pipe stoked it up a good bit and I didn't loose that wonderful "HAWWWW" at the bottom.
