I have a 2001 KDX220R and i want to race it. I was wondering if i can race with the stock forks on it or will it be better to get upside down forks

You can 'race' with any forks you have.

Yes. It will be 'better' with USD forks. That's why folks 'round here change to USD forks.

Your question is too vague to be responded to with anything that has any meaning to it.

You can do some looking around this site and find all sorts of prices riders have paid.

If an answer of, '$100-$600' suits you, then th'ar 'ya go.

Some riders use their KDX wheels because they can make their own axles. Most don't (because they don't have the ability to manufacture/tool metal).

Some anecdotal (and therefore mostly useless) info for you: I spent around $700 on my OEM forks before I changed to my USD setup. My USD setup was in the $600 neighborhood.

Don't worry, set up your stock forks right. By the time your in for $600 for a kx front end, you might as well buy a kx! There must be more than just the forks that are good!

Maybe not as good as USD but you can make them perform a whole lot better than they do now

I'm not planning on converting mine anytime soon, I've got them working soo much better now I don't see any need to go with USD's yet

Yes, it would also be best to send them to me.

I am actually dying to get some late model usd's.
I can buy an old set of 43mm usd's, off a 91kx250 for 50 bucks. I think i might do it, it will at least give me a taste of the goodness.

The whole front end is available, it's my friends and I might not even have to pay... It is a fork more advanced than the 95-06 stockers...

honestly, i'm not sure. My 91' 250 is the first bike i've owned in twelve years.. I have mine set up with stock springs, and medium oil. And might i add my neighbor that is 60, and owns his own shop, and still rides, set these up. Nothing fancy though. But i tell you what! I weigh about 170. I can jump some BIG mx jumps, and not bottom. And it still takes woops and hills and rocks like a pro. I like the way it is. I don't know if the kx forks are the same though. Probably, but just set up different. I say, If the price is FREE,by all means, TRY IT!

******HI-JACK******

I have a buddy that I've been wanting to go riding with again

He's 75!

A year ago we rode together on our dualsports (I almost got us lost ) At the time he was riding a CCM 604 (sweet bike)
I could not keep up with him (not that means anything)

but it got stolen. Now he has a DRZ400

He's gotta '95 KDX too, I have not seen it yet

He also races road bikes, has a 250 vtwin 2 stroke Yammyha that runs 167mph in the back stretch at Portland
