New Bars

Post by paceyman »

Hey Crew,

Looking for a new bar setup for my stock KDX200. I like standing while riding and have to bend over to reach the bars.

The dealer has a few bars there but no Pro Taper like I was looking for. What is the best way to set yourself up with a new set of bars, bet the right bend/rise and clamps that will fit the KDX.

Thanks.

Bill

I bought a pair of MOOSE FLEX BARS (Pro Tapers). They are the Universal Mini Size & you can buy the adapter kit that allows you to bolt the fatties up to your KDX Clamps without buying the whole FAT BAR SETUP. I paid about $102 for the setup. The adapter kit raises the bars about 7/8 inch & the bend is more back. It was recommended as a woods bar & they are 29 inches in width.

I am 5'5" with 30" inseam and try to stand but like to sit so I went with a tall hard seat foam and 1 1/8 CR high mini bars cut to 29" so even when I sit I am almost standing  easy transition very comfortable on long fast rides easy on the old knees and elbos.

I'm using a Magura X-Bar (same as Pro-Taper) tall bend. I have the adapters that fit to the stock bar clamp bottoms which add another 1 3/8" to the height and they seem just right for me at 5' 11".

I am using Moose Mini oversized bars and pit posse adapters. I am 5'10" and this setup is very comfortable for standing.

I used to track it a bit, but I soon realized that modifying and riding the KDX was more fun and economical. So I keep it off the track these days.
