cooling fan?
i was wondering if any one had made a cooling fan for there kdx,
cuz sum of our trails are slippery clay hills and its WOT in second and goin hardly no where.
i read in a mag ages ago someone made one out of a a computer cooling fan. is there a power source you could hook in to saftely?

There is only one on the KDX..well, excepting the SR models anyway. You have an SR..or no? Don't the SRs have batteries and things?
Keep in mind that the KDX power (non-SR) is AC, not DC.
I haven't tried one, don't need to. The 200 doesn't have the cooling problems the 220 commonly does.
Still..with no plenum/shroud, a fan is going to be marginally useful, I'd think. I don't now what a one-each 'computer fan' (usually 12VDC) is going to do with AC. You could put together a simple rectifier circuit I 'spose. It would be a lot simpler with a battery setup. When you weren't charging enough, the battery would fill the gap.
I don't know the 'overseas' models at all. Seems KayD has a 'real' 200, NOT an SR.
Maybe you should be the guinea pig! Let us know how it works out!!

mines not a sr (as far as i know anyway.) it was my dads bike that got hot and had coolant coming out the over flow.... i dont think i have the knowledge to build these things, im am 15...

There are other things that will make coolant come out past the cap besides heat.
..like a bad cap. It's easier to just replace the thing than worry about What is the strength of the spring on the bobbin? Is the dent in the lower gasket too much of dent? And the top gasket? Are the clips bent?
Replace it. See what happens.
An overheating bike is supposed to put coolant in the overflow bottle. Some people take those off (I haven't..did..put it back on for a reason). Maybe your bikes are missing them?
MAYbe the rads weren't full in the first place. Do you check them before each ride? You should.
You might try loosening the 8mm (I think it is) bolt at the top of the cylinder..on the spout the rad hose fits on? Unscrew it a tad until coolant comes out. That is a bleed fitting that should have been bled when the bike was first filled with coolant. You can trap air in that spot..and that will make your bike run hotter than if there is COOLANT there.
No reason for a 200 to spit under normal circumstances. There will always be an extended uphill that will get things gurgling though....

I tap ALL THE HOSES with the cap off & the bike running to get those Bubbas out of the horses. Like Carver said, make sure your screw is loose on your head to get the Bubbas out. Then tighten the screw on your head. You don't want someone with a screw loose riden the bike

FmF has been known to leave out the 'dent' they usually put in their pipes to clear that hose.
Even so, if pipe alignment isn't right (and that can be so from the factory), that hose can be squished.
With the pipe properly aligned...it's quite a ways from that hose.

FMF must be hand made seems each one is different.

Just my opinion.
The 220 generally doesn't need help on the bottom-end of things, it DOES need all the help in can get on the top! The PII doesn't help there.
The 200 CAN be made to run just fine on the bottom-end of things (takes some parts), and more on top is just more fun! The PII wouldn't help there, either.
That being my point of view has nothing to do with anyone else's POV being different. They are certainly welcome to their own. I don't ride their bikes!

It is my understanding the PC Platinum is akin to the FmF rev profile and the PC PlatinumII is akin to the FmF torque profile.
Some advertising for the PC Platinum says it's 'more everywhere' and that it makes EVERYthing better. Probably not. Actually from the ad copy it sounds like an FmF Fatty.

I have the p.c.11 and it is HUGE it is over 14" around the fatest part. I have read that the FMF torque is 11" and the rev is 14". You would think that the two torque profiled pipes would be about the same size. Maybe that is part of the "secret".

In their catalog pics (which don't mean nuthin') the PC looks bigger than the PCII.
2T-wise..basically a 'rev' pipe will be 'bigger' than a 'torque' pipe.

I agree CC...PC's descriptions read like political campains...only without the false promises.
I liked the PCII on the 220...then again, it spent most of it's time chasing the kid, stop and go race marking, or on tight ST. I also never tried the rev pipe, so I have no comparison. If I remember correctly, the PCII is similiar in size and shape to the FMF Woods pipe. I would suspect that if the pipe in question is in fact 14"+ around and in fact a PC pipe, that it is not the PCII.
In FMF's defense, the Gnarly on the KX fits perfect. Slides right on without any effort. Well, it does now any way...after I smashed it up against the frame in a little get off.
