All I did was try to roll it in gear once, and kick it real slow once. I didnt kick it a bunch of times, or Start it. Every thing was soaked in oil. I think im going to run out and get a socket that will fit the basket nut, and some Rotella oil. Take it all back apart, file the basket, while soaking plates, clean it, and reassemble.

Well, the good news is i think ive got the clutch fixed. IS it normal for the oil to look foamy when its running? I filed the grooves out on the clutch basket, and put in some cheap 10-40 like Inda suggested. It doesnt jump in gear hardly at all, and seems to shift really well. I even started it in gear! Now the bad news. During my test run, i saw some liquid on my case. Naturally i thought it was oil, but it wasnt. It was anti-freeze. The bottom fitting on the right side of the radiator looked like it was on an angle, and i could see anti-freeze under it. I think the fitting is partialy separated from the radiator. How the hell did this happen? It wasnt hit. Im wondering if the anti-freeze in it wasnt strong enough, and it froze. I didnt see any fluids on it before i started it. It hasnt been that cold either. Just when you think your making progress, son of a .......! Any idea how it happend, or if it can be fixed? Thanks, Rick

Do you know a good welder? I would think you could put a small bead on it. I don't know how thin it is but I am sure you can do it, I had a guy here weld my car radiater a few years back. If not maybe some sealent but I would be worried it would restrict flow at the fitting where it would cause more pressure on the fitting, causing it to blow again.

Welded? Or soldered?
Good to hear your clutch worked out!
Oh..you asked about 'foamy'. No. It should not foam. I will get some bubbles in it, but that's not the same as 'foam'.
IF it is indeed foaming:
1. The cheap oil you used is WAY too cheap.
2. Something is leaking/has leaked into the transmission.
3. The two oils (the one you took out and the one you put in) don't like each other.
4. Something was 'left over' during the work or re-assembly. Example: You washed/cleaned the basket to make sure all the filings were removed but the piece was not rinsed well enough or the wrong stuff was used in the first place.
IF it is indeed foaming I'd suggest you find out why and fix it. At the least change the trans oil...again...now. The shear/cushion the oil provides your transmission is gone!

First, yeah tom, i know a good welder but i think most of the time, radiators have to be soldered. As for the "foaming' It probably is more like bubbles. The more i ran it, the better the oil looked. I was going to change the oil after the test ride anyway, just to make sure eveyting has been cleaned out. It looked bubbly before i tore it down also.

Changing the oil real soon after anything of the sort (clutch replacement, basket filing..stuff like that) is a good idea.

Sorry Tom. Not trying to pick on ya. Well, just went back into the garage, and after more investigating, it looks like it has been broken, and someone put some kind of seal or someting around it. I hope so. The main thing im concerned with, is that nothing else is wrong with the bike that would of caused this. Like too much pressure in the rad or something. It only ran about ten minuits, Tops. Around the house a few times to try out the clutch. Ps- Tom- Radiation/Radiator- Sounds very similar!

It should be brazed or soldered. You can do it yourself with some soft solder or brazing rods, some flux (if its not incorporated in the rods) and a butane torch. I have helped make and repair car radiators and thats how we did it anyway. A radiator shop could do it in minutes though and for only a few bucks I'd bet.

Thanks Xer. After looking real close, it looks to be an old break that someone else patched. Maybe the colder weather, and then warming it up, broke loose what they did. Its not pouring out, but its enough. Im a certified welder, but dont have the right stuff for this. Thers a Rad. shop accross the street from our office, so maybe ill take it to them and see what they say. If it aint one thing, its another!
