i hear stories from machine shops like "that thing shot all the way across the shop" "i thought that thing would break"

what I am saying is that it takes a lot of force to get it out, and then it needs to be knurled. I cost me like 20 bucks to give everything to a machine shop and tell them " get this out. put this here, later" come back and everything is great.

Thats what it took for me to press out my KX and KDX's stems. Make sure to chain or strap the stem up so it doesn't go flying.

Or put something under the press that can catch that stem. A box of packing foam maybe? At least 12 tons to press it out; it is pressed down and out through the bottom of the T-clamp.

Heat helps.

Reported tonnage required has varied hugely.

Some fits have required knurling, some have not. Keep in mind the Loctite press fit product that is good (depending on type you get) for up to (I recall) a .005" slip.

..that's a whole lotta slip. A couple .001" will feel real loose.

Make sure the clip is on the 'new' stem before you press it in!!
