GAH! Lost my skidplate yesterday

Post by thebleakness »

I already searched about replacement skidplates but those threads are all ready getting quite aged... I was reading that there wasn't a plate available that covered the little butterfly wings below the water pump, well mine had covered the entire bottom. This leads me to think that it might have been a custom plate? I bought the bike with all modifications already and I've been discovering more and more every day (I noticed Works Connection Rad supports the other day :supz: )I went back out to look for it but I rode a good 45 miles and with snow on the ground it was hopeless.

Anyone have any luck find a good skidplate? I heard good things about the Works Connection and if I cant find mine when I go out riding next I'll order a new one up. This is a bad time to have lost that thing, I've got a race coming up in 2 weeks and on the flyer it strongly recommends a skidplate. I'm guessing there's going be alot of rocks...

That does look decent. Decent enough that if I cant find mine the upcoming days I just might express ship one out. It's a reasonable price as well. Thanks for showing me that.

I really dont know how I lost it. I sat there for awhile after I got home wondering just how that would come off. I'm thinking an improper log jump on my part sheared off the bolts or something, maybe they vibrated out? I dunno. Whatever happened, happened. The fact still remains, I need a new skid plate now.

That IS a nice lookind skidplate Mr. Steahly has there!

....but...can't they cut a HOLE in it to access the oil plug? I'd rather it was done with a hole tool than some drilled holes and a saw...

The hole isnt a problem. I spend half my day in a machining/welding shop so drilling that hole would take me a few minutes. I think I'll go ahead and order one from steathy, they do look so damn sexy. :D

I ended up getting the Utah Sports cycle skidplate from Rocky Mountain ATV. I wanted to make sure that I got in in time for a race I had today, it came in and its damn nice.

Thank god I had that plate, AzRick knows what I'm talking about. Within the first few miles of the first test section there is this small boulder/rock field with some more or less larger rock ledges that one must ride over. I picked a bad line over one ledge and slammed that skidplate right into a point sticking off a ledge. The plate took the beating and had I not had it, my case might not still be together! It was an awesome race though, tons of fun.
