I think that tire is toast. You could run it but I don't think its going to work quite right. I'd call the company who makes it and see if you can get a credit or replacement.

did your "bites" chew it up like that or is that from the "bang"?
Looks awful dry, where's your lube?

That tire is toast. We've pulled a few just like that where the owners complaint was they kept getting flats. Put on a new tire without damage...no more flats.

That is mechanical damage and not the tires fault from what I see.
Smaller bites and more lube please.....

What kind of $25CAN tire is that? A Bridgerock what?
It is curious that I see no hint of moisture/slip on the tire OR the wheel.
And a 'last bite' broke it in such widely separated places?
Curious, what was the length of the straight part of the bead on that 'last bite'? Are the two damaged areas where the irons were positioned for that 'last bite'? That's a mighty big bite!
Tire iron length?
The bead opposite the 'last bite' was situated...how?
It's been a few days...where'd 'ya go?

If the tire was good and Kdxquebec did that to the the tire with a normal set of tire irons - I call dibs on having him on MY SIDE if we are ever in a dark alley in bad section of Quebec!!
I've removed a few dried up old tires that had been on the wheels of bikes that I bought 'well used' and don't think I could muscle up the strenght to do that much damage unless I had 4 foot long tire irons.
Anyone want to call out me and my NEW BEST FRIEND "Quebec" for a rumble????

A: I was stuck in the shopping mall parking lot.
Hey the picture was taken maybe 1 week after the damage. Moisture and dish soap was dry when I took the pic (I use dish soap/water as a lubrifiant) .
I use 2 15 inches curved style tire irons. They work great.
This is a bridgestone m402(rear) I bought from a motorcycle shop for 60 bucks!
Tire here is so expensive I do not know why. For exemple. I just bought a new front Michelin M12. The retail price was 138$ can (maybe 115$US) They gave me a 30% off discount but this is to expensive again...anyway
Maybe my explanation is hard to understand but be sure This tire was installed in the correct way. In fact it was not my last bite... But I was close to the end of installation.
The dealer gave me an other rear tire for free yesterday.Like Idaho said, having me on your side is good
So now I have 2 tires to install today.

I think there might be a tire bug going around as I've heard of or seen the same sort of thing more'n once recently.
Does anyone know to what extent 'different' brand names are made in the same place? Like auto tires...there are only a few (two or three?) outfits that MAKE tires..they just put different names on them.
Generally speaking, tire damage from mounting seems to more often mean ruining the rubber part of the bead, exposing the wire..but not BREAKING the wire. Is that agreed?
I left this part out..and it's already done..but I certainly would take that tire back!
I use 8" irons. Some tires fit easier than others. Some 'fall' on, some will give you a quintuple hernia! I cannot imagine a new tire getting shredded like that unless it was faulty from the git-go.
A new nick for katie-q....Philo Beddoe!!

Kdxquebec - Sounds good! Shop backed-up the bad tire - great!! - It was hard for me to believe a person could snap the cord in a tire without some sort of super human strength.

YEP - I'm with you there. Small areas that have been gouged with a tire iron when your in a hurry. Cord showing and nothing else: I can't really say I've ever gone through the cord
