Auto clutch and Seat Cover?

Post by SteveWR450f »

Last minute Xmas shopping for my 04 KDX 220.

Want to get a gripper seat cover. I have seen a few photos of bikes with the green on side - black on top seat cover. I think that came stock on the 05 200 bike but its spendy. Does anyone know of a good aftermarket gripper in green and black. I think ceet makes one but can find any pictures of it.

Also, I have a rekluse clutch on my other bike - 04 WR 450. I was not aware that rekluse makes an auto clutch for the kdx. Do they? If not, who does? Just curious.

Thanks, Steve

From what I have read EFM is the preffered auto clutch for KDXs, I am not sure if anyone else makes one. No personal experience though.

I have a Factory FX gripper seat cover on my KDX, it has held up well the last 4 years I have had it. Not sure where you can buy it now.
edit: That seat cover in foots' ebay link is pretty close to what I have.

Thanks guys. I will look into the EFM clutch - looks like it works like a rekluse.

The seat cover I am looking for is all green on the side. Much like the KX stock seat. I have seen a few guys with KDX's have the seat. I am wondering if they are using a KX seat cover. Dont know if it fits - did not think so.

I've only ever seen all black aftermarket gripper seat covers for the KDX. My '06 came w/ the one w/ the grippy green sides, I don't know about the '05's. I don't know if you can buy just the cover from Kawasaki. All i've ever seen on the fiche is the complete seat. Funny, I was thinking of getting an all black cover for mine. I wasn't sure If I liked the green one. You think it's just human nature wanting what we don't have?

I have a 200 from 05 and the seat is all black.

Thinking about it I would say: "HELL YES" The pasture is always greener on the other side of the hill (or sumthin)
Look at all the tread regarding guys that want more bottom end when they have the 200 (like me  ) and the ones with 220 want more top end  .Go figure, I guess everybody should go trade for their bike counterpart, would be easier

I'm not that way... my 200 has plenty of bottom end and I prefer the stock seat cover to a gripper.

I also like the stock headlight.... I like alot about my bike in the stock form....

Stock is ALWAYS the BEST!

We learned that just recently!!

'Plenty' doesn't mean 'Large' (speaking of bottom ends) does it?

Well... it has never failed to have enough....

Yeah I have been RB'd and I guess that would not be considered stock huh? I can't quite recall when it was STOCK because I was running a 13/47 and that bottom end sucked stock. Little changes make a difference... and allot of little changes add up I guess....

My bike was a mess when I got it... the damaged cylinder, KIPS not working, crappy gearing, crappy tires, crappy suspension. If it would have been a perfect stock 200... I doubt I would have gotten so radical on the mods.... but then again... maybe I would...

The green seat is growing on me a bit. At first it looked like overkill to me. Now I don't know what I like. Maybe something in between the all black '05 gripper, and the green sides/black top '06...
