how to clean pipe?

hi on my last trailride the front wheel flicked some cow sh*t on too the pipe and basicly i have baked it on, i was wondering if any one has any tips/tricks to keeping it clean and shiny?
.P.S i have a pro circuit platnium 2

***EDITTED*** AN OLD/USED Scotchbrite with soap and water...... I have done it several times and no scratches are visible. If you did it without soap and water (or with a brandy spankin new one) I can see a possiblity of scratches being caused.

You didn't mention a color...and green certainly ain't it!
