place a plastic sammich baggie over the end of the tube and grease it up, then slide the seals on
If you are not using a seal driver you can use the old seal and a pvc pipe to drive it home

I used PVC from Canadian Tire eh. It's cheap eh. Or buy a piece of the black stuff eh they have to make joints and elbows and the such. I took an old seal in with me to ensure the I.D. was good eh.kdxquebec wrote:

====Seal diver? Hmm This is the next step in my project. as Maurie said,I will try to find a pcv tube or anything else to press them. If I do not find anything I will go to my local bike shop to get them fit. Or maybe i will buy a $eal diver
A seal driver isn't the only tool you can use to seat a seal with. The purpose is to install it relatively evenly and then once it's seated, ensure it's all the way seated, evenly. You can do it tapping gently all the way around the seal.
I replace leaky seals far too often. What are the ways you guys get seals to last forever? Do you always use OEM? How often do you change fork oil? Do conventional forks use more seals - mine do? Both my bikes are classics and use conventional forks.

Thanks!
I made an aluminium seal diver(for the 43mm forks) with the lathe were I work. Perfect! I will post a picture. The forks job is over now. I would like to thanks all the kdxrider.net TASKFORCE team.
kanuck. Are your bushings are still good?
Bad bushings with new seals will cause a leak. (eh. I think???__)
I think wet and muddy conditions are not really good on the seals (we have to live with this)
My last seals was there for 4 season(pretty good?) (I ride each summer weekends)
I drain the oil each season (redneck method )

1-remove the fork top cap
2- turn the fork up side down
3-Wait
4-put new oil
5-check your mail often and wait for your redneck certificate.
This is the seal diver I made.

Diameter? Same as all the other diameters. Listed on RaceTech's site.
From memory, I'd say they are 37mm.
From measuring one I just happen to have in the shop, Using an HP LJ repetitive defect ruler, it looks to be 37mm!
Oh...that would be 1.4566 inches....
Now...having touched a keyboard to respond to a thread that has a response from someone OTHER than Wibby that shows Wibby's picture in a posted photo...I need to find some Purel!! (..it's a hand sanitizer)
EEeeewwwww!!
OK...this must needs be explained!! I wanna know the point of a 'KQ Redneck Tool' sitting in front of a nekkid Wibbens!!
Well, maybe I do. Maybe I'd need a BATH in Purel after hearing anything about it, but......
Hell...it may take a gallon of lacquer thinner on my head and a match.
BTW...a REAL redneck would change his oil by taking out the drain plug screw on the bottom of the fork (KDX conventional).
