Idle screw

Mines plastic. I don't know much about it, but it doesn't appear like it would be very accurate. Is this pretty much standard equipment on most carburetors? Seems kinda cheesy to me.

Yup, everyone uses 'em.
I believe you can order a special one from Rb, but maybe it will only fit the modded carb?

Thats an air screw, it'll fit a non modded but won't have the same effect as it would on a modded carb

I think the RB screw is for the air/fuel mixture screw. I guess the plastic one works fine, it just SEEMS chintsy. When I first got the bike it wouldn't idle, and it took a good many turns to raise the idle up slightly to where it would stay running. I was of a mind that a metal one would be more precise...

It's stock I reckon. Seems to work ok.

As the motor warms I have to adjust the idle up quite a bit and if I forget to adjust it back down before the next time I go riding it will idle SKY HIGH at start up

My idle screw is black plastic. Cheap bastages saved a buck two eighty puttin plastic in.

I assume it's plastic for the gripping force it has. It won't move unless you move it.

Good point Inda. I'm wondering if the spring wouldn't have the same effect in keeping it from vibrating out, but plastic would definitely be less prone to backing out than a clean set of threads on a metal screw. Apparently the metering of the idle screw isn't overly critical, or it would be a more precise setup.

The idle screw limits how far down the slide will go. It looks like the slide bottoms on the screw.
