Look here for a pretty good list of what you might want to carry in your tool pack:

Ditto 'Huh?'
I guess if I intended to be 100% prepared, I'd carry about 1/2 that stuff...
So I guess I'm not!
6 and 10mm sockets with a 1/4" ratchet and an extension
Wire cutters
Pliers
Plug wrench
Couple of plugs (I give'm away. I don't use them. Well, not yet, anyway)
Spare levers
Clutch perch (bolted to the bars).
Cash (including some quarters for a phone call)
Cell phone
Zip-ties
Allen wrenches required to fit lever guards, levers, carb boot hardware
Lighter
Fuel hose
Emergency blanket (listed above..the little foil things).
I've made a number of people happy being able to get them going with that stuff. I don't use it much myself.
Things like axle wrenches, tire levers and 'stuff' I'm not going to bother with. If I have a flat, I'm riding back to my rig! Well, that's how I've handled it before.

Brain aint working good 'nuff to type
I carry way too much crap, and usually it is used to help someone else other than me
One of my favorite tools is my Gerber pruning outfit, has a saw and some ratchet clippers
