I've had a lot better luck pushing it out AFTER I done spun off the nut....
Although, I've never tried pushing it out without having done spun off the nut.
Unless you've been very religious about swingarm maintenance, the pivot pin will likely take a good bit of whack to remove. It's usually resistant to removal even when the bearings are fine.

I was just razzing KayD about the nut spun part. He kind'a left that part out.
Unlikely to make any difference, but I'd sure give the pin a turn or two before I started the whackment.
Where it's going to stick is pin-to-sleeve, so turning the pin won't DO anything most likely, but I'd give it a twist or two anyway.
How long has it been since it's been apart?

Laying the bike on its side and dumping penetrant in it for a few days, heating it with a torch..all that fun stuff?
Nah! It will come out just fine!!!!!

I've persuaded axles with a 12# sledge..and a piece of iron pipe that looked pretty much like a mushroom by the time I got the axle out.
Want a workout? Swing a 12# sledge for awhile.
