Hmm. OUTCH ! case saver? broken!
The chain master clip went out The chain went out too ...
Outch<<<!!
I found my chain in a water hole and I installed my spare master clip I can not see any leak.
My Idea is to glue the thing with JBWELD and maybe someday get the thing welded....
look

Outch is right. I really would not worry too much about this - getting it welded and then the hole retapping is likely the best thing to do:
BUT- FWIW - I took the guards off on our bikes since the build-up of mud/combined with brush/weeds,seemed to cause more wear and problems than I thought was associated the chance associated with breaking a chain. On the KDX you can remove the guard and leave the case saver chain deflector if you want to have the best of both worlds.
P.S. I think I remember you getting your finger caught between a chain an sprocket - so YOU may be a "SPECIAL CASE" of needing the guard left in place -

PLEASE use the case saver!
I had an Indian 175 and removed the guard... chain broke, case busted... lost pieces... end of vintage Indian 175.
Ever wonder what the damage would have been if it wasn't there?

I'm with IC, that should be a pretty simple weld. Lots of material and its not a load bearing piece.

I doubt it'll be strong enough. (vibration, shocks...)I plan on getting mine JB welded
I'm sure there is a way to weld it, that's aluminium right?

Curious...by the term 'case saver' is everyone referring to the same thing? Usually the outer part is the chain/sprocket guard and the INside part is the case saver? I've heard each part referred to differently by lot'sa folks.
Like: 'On the KDX you can remove the guard and leave the case saver..'
..is the way I've thought of the two.
I know some consider the 'guard' to be the 'case saver'.
Which is it?
More tomato tomahtoe?
A good warning KD-Q.. Just last weekend I was looking for my master link clip to keep track of side plate counts. Couldn't find it. It wasn't there!
That's not the first time I've lost a clip. They wear out rubbing on the chain guide. No...it doesn't matter what kind you have, they all do it.
So...CHECK it once in a while. When the clip starts looking wafer-like..replace it!
