Try checking BuyKaw..or RonAyers microfiche.

Look for part numbers being the same between years.

You want a 19" wheel? Or..you're after..what?

Haven't looked myself, but I'd doubt there would be much of that.

IF you find one that fits, be sure to get the axle and spacers with it.

Heck...just buy one and MAKE the spacers to fit!

I don't know that a KX axle would even fit through the frame holes.

Summation: I don't know anything about it!

ya know, Kawasaki wheels Kinda suck, even the KX ones (which are stronger than KDX ones). If you just want a stronger wheel, search ebay for that, but you might not want to limit yourself to Kawi. I mean there's usually vendors selling aftermarket wheels. If you want a whole package, keep your eyes open for better components. A buddy of mine got a front and rear Excell laced to Talon hubs for around $400 last year . Oh, and he needed them for a reason. The stock ones on his KX250 were problematic... frequent broken spokes, 'tato chip-shaped wheels, dents all that. his new set have been a lot better. They look nice too, and are way easier to clean.

What more could you ask for? all for the paltry sum of too much money.

So, are all of the hubs the same size but the spacers and axles different for all wheels? I was planning on just using the same axle for each wheel. If I do not have to limit myself to one type of wheel the search would be easier.

My plan is to shod a wheel with a trials tire for 80 % of the riding and keep the s-12 on another rim for days when it has rained or is raining, or my single track is covered with 12" of fallen leaves and needs a clearing.

Why a KX wheel? Yes, a KX wheel is better in a number of ways. As said, the rims are stronger and some hubs have three bearings in them.

If the primary reason to have two is to easily switch between types of tires to match terrain, why not make the whole thing a whole lot easier and simply get another KDX wheel?

Axle fits, snails fit, spacers fit, rotor fits, sprocket fits, spokes fit..sounds pretty easy to me.

I have two rear wheels for my KDX. Got one for a paddle (sand) tire, one for the dirt. I never USED the thing..it's still sitting under a table in the garage.

But the idea is the same.

There are some inherent problems with swapping whole rear wheels forth and back. The sprocket and rotor are likely to never 'match' simply because one has been used more than the other.

When you get a brand new T-ring chain and sprocket set for the S12 wheel, then the next week you want to put the trial on..and its sprocket is worn a good bit..are you going to ruin your new D.I.D chain with the swap?

just wanting to be able to expand my search on ebay. there is usually only 1 kdx wheel every 2 weeks and 43 people are bidding on it.

hopefully i'll put a trial tire on and never want to switch and all of this will be moot.

Not trying to nag you to death...

I don't know if rotors between the two work. It may well be impossible to use a KX rear wheel (again..a 19" wheel) on a KDX and have the rotor/sprocket EVER line up.

I know of no one that has put a KX rear wheel on a KDX. Not saying it can't be done, just that I haven't heard of it.

If you're a machinist that can MAKE things work, that's one thing. If you're simply wanting to bolt it on and have it work...that is something else.

Get a KDX wheel from FRP. May not be the cheapest $$ ever, but it will be a fair price..and you can have it by the end of the week!

That's worth something!

I've used a 19" rear wheel from a Cannondale before on my 89 KDX. Worked pretty well actually.
