No spark .... HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
My 220 has no spark. I've ruled out the switch wiring and the spark plug. How do i test the ignition coil? How do I test the stator? Will a coil from an 02 kx250 work? I have access to one that i could put in, but don't know if it work? Any help Please help I CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFETY OF THOSE AROUND ME IF THIS can not be fixed. My friends and loved ones thank you all for your help. And I would like to learn how to do this so I don't have to go to a dealer.
Hope i don't sound to pitiful. Thanks in advance.

Look for loose connections first. Next the stator as it is most prone to failure. Look in the owners manual in the back there is a troubleshootin guide for ignition.
The Bike has 3 wires coming out of the stator Box - Red/White a Black and a Yellow the Yellow Wire is for the Light on the KDX. Put the OHM meter on the Red/White and the Black or ground you should have 350 Ohm. If bike has inf. reading the Ign stator is bad.

How did this turn out?
Re: 'Look for loose connections..'
That includes ground connections and connections within the hi-tension lead (from the spark plug to the ignition coil). That lead can commonly break INside and you can't SEE it, where the wire lead itself is crimped to the metal connectors.
Back to the beginning. How did you determine it had no spark? Specifically.
If you do indeed need an excitor coil (the one on the bottom of the stator..the potted (covered in epoxy) one..NOT the one with the large visible copper wires on it), talk to RickyStator about it. The winding of the excitor is picky, and if it's not done correctly (many ways to do it wrong), you will have all sorts of troubles.
Uh...that's rickystator.com..right?

I pulled the spark plug. held in in my hand and was touching the block. A buddy kicked the bike and no zap. I was in a sticky spot with the handlebars turned to the stop, off balance, starting to fall, facifng downhill, and the motor started to spin up. I was not turning the throttle. I hit the hit the kill to shut the motor. Got myslef out of the spot (the bike never went over) went to start it up and nothing.
Can i pull the high tension wire out of the coil to test it? The spark plug cap has a threaded end that screws into that wire. I did cut it back, expose some new inner wire and twisted it back on. What test can i do to the coil?

It's pretty easy to NOT get a decent ground connection when the plug is 'held' to something. I've NOT gotten a spark about 1/2 the time on first try doing that.
Try a new plug for starters. Doesn't matter what the one you took out LOOKS like. Use a new one anyway.
Specifics help. 'Coil' means ignition coil or exciter coil?
The exciter coil was already covered. You got that part, right?
I don't recall specs for the ignition coil. I take it you don't have a manual? Tests/specs are listed in it I think. I'll check when I get home.
..gotta find a string to tie around my finger.............

Judging by the spelling and errors in the manual I'd say it was written by one of your own.

Same thing happened to my bike a month or so ago. I ended up bring it to the dealer. First make sure all your wires are connected, take them apart and put them back together to ensure a tight fit. And then i would check your kill switch. Sometimes the ground or certain parts of your bars may not be very good.

Dang! Excellent input Mr. Austrailia-man!
..what's this string doing on my finger...........???
Checking such things (coils and such) is when a megger is useful. Who even knows what that is?
Oh yeah...I fergot..we're all a bunch of old farts on this board. Prolly every1 knows what a megger is.
What if: There is no problem with the spark (KDX spark systems are reliable). The comment of the motor starting to wind up? Like it was leaning out?
Do you have fuel? IN the bowl and GETTING to the airstream?
