Flywheel puller? What kind for KDX220?
Hi folks,
Newbie here. I'm trying to get the flywheel off of my 97' KDX 220, and am having a heck of a time finding the right tool. I got a universal flywheel puller from my local bike shop, and I think I got the wrong person in service to order it for me since it doesn't seem to work and looks completely different than the tool pictured in the online KDX manual.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for the correct tool?
Thanks a ton!

Size 27mm X 1.0mm fine left hand thread. Are you trying to thread it on wrong?
It should look like this:

It's a common tool used for a lot of other machines than the KDX. Yamaha uses the same one..at least in models I've used it on.
MotionPro makes 'em.
Yeah...thread it 'on' LHT. I've never followed the instructions as far as 'how to'..but you're supposed to thread it in tight, then smack the end of it.
I just use a brazillion pounds of torque on my 1/2" air impact.
Watch that key!! When you put it back on, CHECK to make sure the key did not back out during install. Easy to have that happen. Then, your bike runs for crap (it's RETARDED!!) and the key gets stuck in places you don't want it to get stuck in.
..someone told me about that. I'D never do such a stoopid thing.
NEVER use an arm type puller on the flywheel. Never.
No..not even I did that!!
