fredette engine / RB

Post by scheckaet »

Is it possible to run a fredette porting with head mod from RB and his airstriker?
What would be the advantage / disadvantage to run this combo (if it's even possible)?

It's compatable... I just don't think there is any advantage to porting the KDX....

That wouldn't suprise me. The 220 porting is pretty tame stock.

Yes, it is possible.

The advantage (if yours works) is your bike will run better.

Why would it not be possilbe?

Anecdotal input is not always useful, but.....my cylinder was ported by FRP and replated by USChrome. The cylinder was finished out of round. The engine with that topend never worked as it should have, indeed...a 'new' OEM ported cylinder runs considerably better than the ported cylinder ever did. That's not (probably) a problem with porting, but most likely a problem with USChrome.

...and not the first, only, nor the last problem you can read about on this forum regarding USChrome.

Not my idea, nor opine ('cuz I don't have a 220) but refining the porting on a 220 is by documentation, effect, and result a pretty simple thing to do. Why? Because 220 porting is such a goober in the first place.

It's (probably) easier to turn a 'muscle' car into a 13 second 1/4 miler from a 14 second car.

It's a lot harder to turn it into an 11 second car from a 12 second car!

That's a metaphor that applies, except it's really a simile, but I didn't say, like, yanno?

if your going to use a muscle analogy, it would be proper to say that a kdx 200 is like an 18second car with a stock cylinder.
