KDX CHAIN GAURD AND FORK OIL

Post by Photoguy »

I am working on an older KDX 200 1991 for a freind. He picked it up cheap cheap so Im in the rebuild process for him. I have a couple questions hope you guys can help. Is that bulky chain gaurd assembly necessary on this model or can it be thrown to the wind. Also the Front forks, does anyone have the proper fuild level spec for these.
Thanks again in advance for your help.

If your talking about the white chain guard above the swing arm then you can pull it off. I don't know the spec for the forks off the top of my head but the last time I rebuilt mine I set my oil level @ 110mm from the top of the full compressed fork with no spring in the tube.

Thank you sir. I do appreciate it. I was going to assume these forks were the same as my 06 as far as fluid levels but thought I would ask and see if anyone had anything different to say. Again thank you guys.

When i rebuilt my front forks i added fork oil so it was 110mm from top of fork. works great i wouldnt stick less than this in as you may bottom the forks as the springs are so soft i found l had less than this before i rebuilt them and they were bottoming out.
