Chain rubbing on case! / Countershaft seal

I replaced the stock chain with an RK X ring chain using the stock sprockets when I got my bike. Today while pushing it aroung in the garage, I heard a click... click... click.... when rolling it forward. I thought it was the master just hitting the rub block.

NOPE! I took off the front sprocket and found that the pins on the chain were rubbing the case just above, ie the 12:00 position from the countershaft for about a 10mm length.

I filed down the case slightly and reinstalled everything. Works fine with no noise now. I don't know how long it has been rubbing. the case had just a small gash in it, maybe the thickness of a dime.

Also, is there an easy way to get the countershaft seal out? Although I have little time on the bike, I can see some oil residue around the seal area and on the cases. If it is easy to change, I may pop one in before it start hemmohraging.

Does your x-ring chain is thicker than the chain you had before?

Does your front sprocket is tight (no loose on the shaft) ?

For your countershaft leak, does the metal bushing is grooved?

You can begin by replacing the bushing only.If leak is still there after, Replace the countershaft seal...

Read this topic. All in fo is there. Good luck
