Oil Leak

Post by Dax10 »

Recently my 04 kdx 220 has been leaking oil out of the top of the crankcase at the gasket where the two halves meet. My bike is stock except for the air box lid being removed about a month ago. Has anybody else come across this problem, and could it be related to the removal of my airbox lid? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I am no expert in 220 (0r 200 for that matter  ) but I don't think the removal of the airbox lid is the problem.
A lot of guys remove the lid and I have never heard anyting like this.
How long have you run the bike? are you the 1st owner? If not maybe the previous owner did something to the crankcase...
what does your oil look like? Do you change it often?
Tell us a bit more about the history of your bike and I'm sure someone will say there it is.
good luck

Did you knock the breather hose off?? You have a valve between the upper casing halves that has a hose directed into the air box.
