Water Pump Replacemnt part 2

Post by cfspawn »

Hi all
I have now completly reassmbled my water pump and side cover with new bearing, mechanical seal, and oil seal as well as the shaft itself. once i put it back together i noticed the the impeller shaft is alot harder to turn. this seems normal to me as its got new seals and bearings. and its dry with no oil on them yet. just wanted to check if anyone else had this problem

The test is fill it up, start it... then remove the cap and see how it's flowing.

The thing turns when it's back together? I would have thought the drive gears would prevent that. Well, unless you're able to turn the motor over by twisting the impeller, which I wouldn't think was spec'd in it's design.
