Gas Cap

Post by marco220 »

I somehow cracked my gas cap. I don't overtighten --- only about 1/4 turn after the seal makes contact so I'm not sure what happened.

Should I stick with the KDX cap or go with aftermarket? I've heard that a KX cap will also fit and it's smaller than the KDX piece.

Has anyone changed to a different cap??

Compared to those who have broken the neck of the tank...I'd say you're lucky.

I haven't tried and don't use a different cap...so can't help you there.

I would say that 1/4 turn after contact is WAY more tight than I keep mine!

1/8 maybe..............

My brother's KDX that I traded him has a KX cap on it. I have no idea what year but it works fine. It is not as good of a fit as the KDX cap but does what it's supposed too.

Careful with the billet aftermarket ones as some don't seal real well and cut their own threads. I have an old Honda cap as a spare, I also can't remember the model. Take yours to a wreckers/breakers and match one up.
